Our life in the village!!

A little raking was needed in the back yard.
Ellie enjoys the breeze of the fan in her new room.  Finally she gets to sleep in her bunk bed.
Dear family and friends,

In late February we moved to a house in the village of Kok Sa-at.  The house is in a compound owned by the Thai government and has a number of natural resources officers whose job is to protect the fish in the reservoir from poaching.  There were a few houses unoccupied, so the director of the compound offered us a house to stay in.  It took some fixing up, but it is now livable.  Here are a number of pictures of what our house looks like.

And here is an account of our first night in our village house:

Thank you for your prayers. We need them! Last night we spent our first night in the village house. There were a few mishaps. The kitchen faucet was not set well and shot from its PVC pipe holder into Joy due to the water pressure. So we had a bit of water spraying all over for a few minutes. It was a good thing I had seen the faucet installed the day earlier and knew where the shut-off valve was. Then we left the upstairs lights on while we ate and a swarm of bugs entered through our windows which are still waiting for their screens. Joy and Tom's room was the worst so we decided to sleep downstairs in the living area. So we set up mosquito nets and went to bed on the floor. Then, during the nightJoy woke-up feeling all sorts of bites. We turned on the light and found that ants had invaded the ground floor.. We quickly retreated to the second floor and the layer of gnats which had died and now covered the floor.

There were no further mishaps after that. Just a lot of cleaning and faucet fixing today.

Blessings to you all
Here's the dining room table and a work table.  We have an internet connection via cell phone at almost DSL speeds!
JoAnna and Ellie share a room.
Zach doesn't have a room.  His bed is on the landing behind the stair.  Here he spends a good deal of time reading "Redwall" books.
(Above) We've gone with a minimal amount of furniture.  One beanbag chair for now.  A neighbor thought this a bit strange. (The beanbag chair, not the lack of furniture.)
Here's our kitchen sink and the offending faucet.  We thought it had been fixed, but today the whole pipe shot out of its elbow connection due to a poor job of gluing it together.  The local repair guy glued it when the water was still running.  It was reglued today while dry.
Here's a steep stairway leading to the bedrooms.  The bathroom door doesn't shut.  Our solution, stuff a corner of a towel in the door and it will stay shut.
(Left and Below) Here are some more shots of our kitchen.  We had to go on a buying spree as we had nothing for the kitchen and the house came with nothing.  The kids have been enjoying playing with the large box the refrigerator came in.

(Right) Tom and Joy's room.  We were tired of spending money and figured we could not get a double bed or mattress up the stairs.  So we have been sleeping on the floor.
